YOUR ROAD YOGA

My name is Jackie Rae Daniels, I am a Trauma Informed Certified Yoga Instructor. Your Road Yoga is my offering to the yoga world! My mission is to invite people who have experienced trauma, of all kinds, to explore a skillful approach towards healing. I will introduce the modality of mindfulness with gentle and supportive techniques, as well as practices that encourage a sense of grounding through the body, and regulating the nervous system. It is my intention to offer the practice of yoga while creating a trustworthy environment. I guide participants to make choices for themselves as they find what serves their individual experience best, and in doing so build confidence along the road to recovery.

A little bit about trauma informed:

"[A] trauma-informed yoga approach emphasizes key aspects of yoga delivery such as the idea of befriending the body through mindful awareness of body sensations, teaching coping tools, and emphasizing choice and relationship "

-Trauma-Informed Yoga: An Embodied, Cognitive Relational Framework article published in MedCrave International Journal of Complementary & Alternative Medicine

My Story

The practice of yoga has been known to bring relief to suffering in life. Through trauma informed yoga, I have witnessed myself develop skills like strength building, cultivating a compassionate attitude towards myself, and regulating my nervous system. I correlate my success to a daily yoga routine that only developed for me after finding myself in recovery from substance use disorder, engaging in daily meditation, therapy, and taking an interest in my wellbeing. I share all of this simply because this practice, along with other decisions towards well being, can actually create more peace, ease, and health in our day to day lives.

I've found on my own road to yoga that I've had reservations about becoming a yoga instructor. I had always thought the practice of yoga was about having a certain type of body that can move in a particular way. What I have found is that yoga is a combination of ancient techniques and modern day research that help connect the body to the mind. The ability to connect to the present moment ,where life is actually happening, with a sense of ease and wellbeing has given me relief and utter joy.
